Well, could anyone really be interested in this? I'll find out, I guess.
I was born in Pittsburgh, PA., on January 5, 1959, to Jim and Ann Atkinson. I lived most of my childhood in Painesville, OH, until 1977 when I graduated from high school and went to live with my dad in Scottsbluff, NE. At 20, I quit college and moved out on my own, beginning an eight year period of mostly partying away my life. Never did finish school. Mostly I worked as a cashier at several different jobs throughout that time. My life changed dramatically in 1987, when I moved to suburban Kansas City with a guy I had known for two months. I must have been really bored; it was a horrible mistake. We stayed together for nearly three years that seem like a bad dream now. But coming here turned out to be lucky in the long run. I met my husband, John Clark, here and we were married at the KU campus chapel on May 15, 1993. After nearly two years, we still seem to actually like each others' company, a real accomplishment these days!!
Today I still work as a cashier in a grocery store here in Shawnee, KS. I am now thirty-six years old. (How did that happen???) I am five foot one and three quarters inches tall, and weigh about 110 pounds. Because I am so small, people think I'm very young. I still get carded in liquor stores sometimes, and almost always at bars. It used to be frustrating, but now I feal more flattered. John is a Certified Novell Instructor working as a contractor. This causes him to travel to get work quite a bit, usually three or four days a week for three weeks out of the month. Sure, it gets lonely, but the money is really good, and he loves what he does. Anyway, I've always been a kind of solitary person. Lately, I have been spending a lot of time playing trivia games on AOL. At first John complained about the money, but I have finally convinced him that there are worse things I could be doing on all those lonely evenings, and anyway, since he's in business for himself, any computer related expenses are tax deductable!!! (Truthfully, I think that's what finally brought him around!!)
Over the past year, I have finished an associates degree, and am trying to decide what I really want to do when I grow up. :-) My future plans are pretty up in the air. I'd like to write something publishable (is that a word??) some day, and I love to take pictures. I got my first real SLR camera for Christmas, and I'm taking a class starting in April. I just started a new position today in the video department of my store. Think that will help me to do better at movie trivia?? I guess my most important goal is to fulfill that biological clock that's ticking away more urgently these days. Hasn't happened so far, but I guess we'll keep trying no matter what the result is. :-)
